Redondo Beach was a quick 7 nautical mile hop from Marina Del Rey. We spent two night there at the King’s Harbor Yacht Club. They offer reciprocal slips to anyone outside of SoCal! Hermosa Beach was right next door and the town was very cool as well. Carson and I took a long (sans dog as they aren’t allowed) walk along this beach and picked up trash along the way. There was a really neat place right by the marina with touch pools and all kinds of tanks of different types of fish that you could go in (by donation) and check out. Totally worth it. Overall, a great yacht club with very nice shower facilities. No laundry though- we had to trek it across to another marina that let us use theirs.

Next, we sailed to Alamitos Bay (Seal Beach) in the Long Beach area. This is a very unique harbour with an island in the middle! We stayed at the Alamitos Bay Marina, which is huge and broken up into several ‘basins’. It was just a hop over the bridge by foot to get to lots of shops and restaurants as well as a Trader Joe’s grocery store, which we love. Lots of great stuff for cheap! We were also able to stock up on dog food as there was a great pet supply shop nearby as well. The idea was to provision to get ready for our next visit- over to Avalon on Santa Catalina Island!
